Police were called to the footbridge outside Central Plaza in Chonburi yesterday after a sign went up claiming that a person had ripped someone off in a Ponzi scheme.
The sign – with a picture of the alleged rip off artist and their Thai ID – said: “Share fraud – they conned me out of money”.
Banjop, 47, who organizes the taxi rank at that spot said he didn’t know the person who had hung up the sign or the person depicted in the sign. Samet police chief Pol Col Jakraphan Kittisirapornkun said that this was not the way to go about getting justice.
He said that the person who hung up the sign could face a 5,000 baht fine under littering laws.
And not just that. They could be sued for defamation by the person depicted in the sign.
Jakraphan said that alleged victims of fraud should go to the police who will investigate, reported Sanook.
